El Dorado at Your Rhythm: an initiative that supports people with cognitive disabilities

· “El Dorado at Your Rhythm” will help reduce pre-flight stress and support travelers with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, among others.

· The airport has an accessible infrastructure and more than 6,700 trained collaborators, ensuring a safe, empathetic, and accessible travel experience for everyone.

Bogotá, November 6, 2025. With a commitment to fostering a more human, accessible, and inclusive travel experience, the airport presents “El Dorado at Your Rhythm,” a program that offers pre-travel visits to help passengers become familiar with airport facilities, processes, and protocols, creating a sense of ease and reducing pre-flight stress.

The airport environment can be overwhelming for neurodivergent individuals due to factors such as noise and crowds. Additionally, lines and uncertainty about the travel process may cause anxiety and stress, making autonomy and safety more challenging for passengers.

How does “El Dorado at Your Rhythm” work?

This initiative offers a simulated tour of the airport’s key areas, including:

• Check-in
• Security screening
• Waiting rooms
• Boarding processes
• Arrival processes

During the visit, participants can access:

• Guidance from a trained host specialized in supporting neurodivergent individuals
• Orientation and assistance throughout the entire familiarization process
• An emotional support kit at the end of the tour

For the airport, “El Dorado at Your Rhythm” aims to enhance the overall passenger experience through benefits such as reduced anxiety and stress during travel, improved comfort and safety, greater autonomy and independence in navigating the journey, and the creation of an inclusive and respectful environment tailored to each passenger’s needs.

Scheduling is available through the airport’s website, depending on individual needs and operational availability. Satisfaction surveys will also be conducted to evaluate perception and identify opportunities for improvement.

Sunflower Lanyard and accessibility actions

Another important measure at El Dorado is the Sunflower Lanyard, part of the international Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, which allows passengers with hidden disabilities to be identified and receive personalized and adapted support. To date, 1,335 lanyards have been delivered to national and international travelers. Its use helps airport staff, airlines, Migración Colombia, and other entities provide priority assistance during security, boarding, and transit processes within the terminal, as well as access to priority lines that reduce waiting times.

The Sunflower Lanyard is provided free of charge at the airport information points located in Terminal 1 (second floor, between doors 4 and 5) and Terminal 2 (first floor, west side of door 3). To request one, passengers only need to present documentation from a foundation or simply inform staff of their condition along with their boarding pass.

El Dorado has also strengthened its infrastructure to ensure a more accessible environment. Today, the airport features tactile paving for visually impaired passengers, PRM (Persons with Reduced Mobility) restrooms and parking spaces in various terminal levels, stair railings adapted for people of short stature, and signage with braille throughout the airport.

Additionally, through its Service School and training in inclusive service guidelines, more than 6,700 members of the airport community — including personnel from Aerocivil, Migración Colombia, Policía Nacional, Avianca, Latam, Satena, Vise and others — have strengthened a service culture oriented toward the needs of all passengers.

With these initiatives, El Dorado continues to implement measures that help reduce anxiety and stress during the travel process, improve passenger comfort and safety, and promote a more autonomous and empathetic experience. The airport also joins more than 300 airports in 30 countries and 18 airlines that are part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, reaffirming its commitment to more inclusive, respectful, and accessible air transport for all.
